Three days ago it was winter. Today its spring. Funny how the seasons change, seemingly overnight. Its not just the temperature that tells me its spring, the colorful flowers announce it as well.
Here’s what’s blooming today:
- Purple Babiana (baboon flowers),
- Bright chartreuse Euphorbia
- Lemon yellow Mexican tulip poppy (Hunnemannia fumariifolia)
- Deep blue Ceanothus (California lilac)
- Pale yellow Halimocistus ‘Merrist Wood Crème’ with deep burgundy “eyes” in the center
- Raspberry purple Lavandula stoechas (Spanish lavender)
- Intense magenta Arctotis (South African daisy)
- Deep coral colored Watsonia (bugle lily)
This is just the first wave of spring color in my very low water garden. As the weeks progress, there will be more and more, so stay tuned!
